10 Best Drill Impact Driver Combos of 2022

It can be difficult to weigh out all the pros and cons of each tool so that you can make the right choice if you have ever agonized over which tool to purchase. If you invest in drill and impact driver combo kits, you don’t want to discover months down the road that your investment was a bad one.

These ten reviews are the result of our testing of some of the most popular and capable combo kits on the market. They were put to the test under our eyes, being used, abused, and ultimately compared against each other.

It is our goal to provide you with all the pertinent information on some of the best drill driver kits out there so you can make an informed choice.

The 10 Best Drill Impact Driver Combo Kits:

1. DeWALT DCK240C2 Cordless Drill Combo Kit

DeWALT DCK240C2 Cordless Drill Combo Kit

With DeWALT tools, you can rest assured that they are built to last. All DeWALT tools are backed by an impressive three-year warranty. The DCK240C2 is no different, packing a lot of features and performance in a compact size.

There’s enough torque to drive screws into just about anything, and the drill is one of the most powerful drills we’ve tested with a unit watt output (UWO) of 300.

Despite being powerful, these tools aren’t heavy at all. The impact driver is particularly compact and can fit into the tightest spaces. They are lightweight to prevent fatigue when used for long periods. The built-in triple LED lights ensure you can see what you’re doing when you’re there.

Honestly, this kit is more expensive than other kits we’ve seen. As well as the quality of these tools, you also get convenient features like the drill’s 12 inch chuck and the driver’s 14 inch chuck, which allow one-handed bit changes. Ultimately, we believe this is the best drill driver combo on the market.

  • Built-in triple LED lights
  • Load bits with one hand
  • Lightweight and compact
  • The drill has a large ½” chuck

  • More expensive than other options

2. CRAFTSMAN CMCK200C2 Cordless Drill Combo Kit

CRAFTSMAN CMCK200C2 Cordless Drill Combo Kit

CRAFTSMAN CMCK200C2 Cordless Drill Combo Kit is more affordable than most of the kits we compared, yet it doesn’t skimp on quality and features, which is why we consider it one of the best drill/impact driver combo kits we’ve seen.

It has a 14.6-inch chuck, which makes it easier to change bits one-handed, and it has more torque than the DeWALT, with 1,460 inch-pounds.

Don’t forget about the drill though, it’s quite capable in its own right. The large 12-inch chuck fits bigger bits and the two-speed gearbox allows for speeds up to 1,500 RPM. The drill isn’t as powerful as the one in the DeWalt kit, which has 280 UWOs, but it’s still a good drill.

A major reason why the DeWalt kit is better than the CRAFTSMAN kit is its overall design. The CRAFTSMAN tools, especially the impact driver, are more bulky and less ergonomic than the DeWalt tools. But like the DeWalt tools, they have built-in LEDs, so at least you’ll be able to see. The impact driver is bulkier, so you’ll have a harder time fitting it into those tight spaces.

  • Reasonably priced
  • Built-in LED lights
  • One-handed bit changes
  • The driver makes 1,450 in-lbs of torque

  • Not as compact as competitors

3. Ridgid GIDDS2-3554586 Drill & Impact Driver Combo Kit

Ridgid GIDDS2-3554586 Drill & Impact Driver Combo Kit

It’s significantly more expensive than the DeWalt combo kit that earned our top spot, but the Ridgid Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit offers some great features.

With its impressive 2,250 inch-pounds of torque, the impact driver in this kit packs a wallop. That’s 850 more than the DeWalt impact driver. It’s not just any drill, but a powerful hammer drill that produces 750 inch-pounds of torque. Even the handle can be adjusted so you can get extra leverage from it.

The Gen5X brushless motors help make all that power, and they are not only powerful, but also very efficient, so they last a long time. In addition, since this kit comes with two high-capacity batteries of four amp-hours each, battery problems are unlikely to occur.

These tools are a bit heavier than some of the other tools we tested, and the battery life is much shorter. Still, it’s hard to beat the power and battery life of this kit.

  • Brushless motors
  • Excellent battery life
  • Includes two, 4Ah batteries
  • Plenty of power for most applications

  • Heavier than some competitors
  • Much pricier than the competition

4. Makita XT281S 18V LXT 2-Pc. Combo Kit

Makita XT281S 18V LXT 2-Pc. Combo Kit

Featuring brushless motors, the Makita XT281S 18V LXT Combo Kit is both compact and lightweight. Using the large 3Ah batteries, these tools weigh just three pounds each, which means longer battery life, a longer tool lifespan, and more power in a lighter package. With these batteries and brushless motors, you’ll rarely run out of power.

Besides being lightweight, the Makita kit is also very compact. If you often find yourself trying to fit your tools into too-small spaces, this kit might offer you a solution. The weight savings and improved battery life will have to be weighed against the cost.

Power-wise, the kit is on par with the DeWalt kit in our top spot. The impact driver produces 1,500 inch-pounds of torque, while the drill only manages 440 inch-pounds of torque.

  • Brushless motors
  • Lightweight and compact size
  • Dual 3Ah batteries provide plenty of run time

  • More expensive than other kits

5. Bosch CLPK22-120 Power Tools Combo Kit

Bosch CLPK22-120 Power Tools Combo Kit

The Bosch CLPK22-120 Power Tools Combo Kit is a great option when you need something really compact and maneuverable but doesn’t have to be very powerful. They’re 12V, so they’re not as strong as the 18V and 20V tools we’ve seen yet, but at just two pounds, they’re the lightest ones we’ve tested.

A tiny impact driver in this kit produces 265 inch-pounds of torque at 1300 RPM, while the drill produces 930 inch-pounds at 2600 RPM, pretty impressive for a 12V tool. However, that isn’t even close to the 2,250 inch-pounds of torque the Ridgid impact driver produces.

It’s true that smaller 12V batteries aren’t as powerful, but they charge quickly. These ones can be fully charged in just 60 minutes each. But we don’t think that’s enough to justify the high price. It costs less than this BOSCH kit to get a much more powerful 20V kit, such as the CRAFTSMAN in the second position.

  • Very small and light
  • Batteries charge in just 60 minutes

  • Not as powerful as the other combo kits
  • Expensive for what you get

6. Milwaukee 2691-22 Compact Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit

Milwaukee 2691-22 Compact Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit

While the Milwaukee 2691-22 Compact Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit isn’t quite as expensive as the Ridgid kit that earned our premium choice recommendation, most of its competitors are quite a bit more expensive. Even so, the tools in this kit aren’t as powerful as those in the DeWalt kit. The impact driver has 1,400 inch-pounds of torque, while the drill produces only 400 inch-pounds.

It is because of the warranty that this kit earns a higher price. Milwaukee tools come with a five-year warranty, so your investment will last a long time. The tools are also fairly light and feel good in your hand. The Milwaukee kit costs substantially more than the DeWalt kit, even though they don’t feel any better and weigh a lot the same. For us, the DeWalt kit offers a better value.

  • Lightweight and compact
  • Five-year warranty

  • Much pricier than other options
  • The drill isn’t very powerful

7. PORTER-CABLE PCCK618L2 Cordless Drill Combo Kit

PORTER-CABLE PCCK618L2 Cordless Drill Combo Kit

As compared to most of the kits we tested, the PORTER-CABLE PCCK618L2 Cordless Drill Combo Kit is overpriced. In comparison to the drill found in the DeWalt kit, the PORTER-CABLE drill delivers 360 UWO of power while the DeWalt drill produces 300 UWO. As for the impact driver, it’s not quite as powerful, equal to the 1,400 inch-pound torque of the DeWalt.

PORTER-CABLE tools feature brushless motors that produce all that power, which allows the tool to last longer, therefore explaining the higher price.

The PORTER-CABLE kit, which outpriced most of the rest, did not come with a carrying case.

  • The drill packs 360 UWO of power
  • Equipped with brushless motors

  • Doesn’t include a carrying case
  • More expensive than other kits

8. SKIL CB739101 2-Tool Combo Kit

SKIL CB739101 2-Tool Combo Kit

While it’s not as powerful as the other 20V kits we’re comparing, the SKIL CB739101 2-Tool Combo Kit packs a lot of power into a really small tool, particularly the impact driver. In spite of its 1,100 inch-pound torque, it’s in a package that’s small enough to fit into some really tight spaces.

This kit only includes one battery, so if it dies, you’ll have to charge it again before using it. This is a serious inconvenience, so we recommend the kits that include two batteries instead.

There’s a caveat to this kit’s warranty; if you don’t register the kit within 30 days, your warranty will be void.

  • Very compact impact driver
  • Five-year limited warranty

  • The impact driver has just 1,100 inch-pounds of torque
  • Kit only includes one battery
  • Warranty is void if you don’t register within 30 days

9. Metabo HPT KC18DGLS Hammer Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit

Metabo HPT KC18DGLS Hammer Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit

A lifetime warranty is included with all Metabo HPT tools, including the KC18DGLS Hammer Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit. However, that’s probably the best feature of this kit. There aren’t the most powerful drills and drivers included in this kit. The drill manages 487 inch-pounds of torque, which isn’t too bad. However, the impact driver produces 1,280 inch-pounds.

But the worst thing about this tool kit is the battery life. These tools aren’t efficient on batteries, so they’re dying pretty fast. Worse, the batteries included in this kit are just 1.5Ah each, so they are not enough to last all day. If you want more power and battery life, we suggest skipping this kit.

  • Protected by Metabo HPT lifetime warranty

  • Not the most powerful tools
  • Poor battery life
  • Batteries are low capacity

10. WORKPRO W004572A Cordless Drill Combo Kit

WORKPRO W004572A Cordless Drill Combo Kit

A WORKPRO W004572A Cordless Drill Combo Kit might be tempting if you’re looking for the cheapest drill and driver combo kit. However, even at this price, we don’t think it’s worth it.

The impact driver has just 1150 inch-pounds of torque, so long screws won’t be able to be installed all the way. If you use the drill, it won’t have a 3/8-inch chuck, which will impede your work.

The drill and driver are bulky and cumbersome despite being poorly powered. Your arm muscles will start to fatigue after a few hours of doing this. They are also significantly larger and heavier than the others we tested. Even though this kit is cheaper, we don’t think you’re really saving money since you’ll probably need to replace it with something more powerful soon.

  • Affordably priced

  • Outperformed by all the other kits
  • Very weak
  • Big, bulky, and heavy

Buyer’s Guide

In this buyer’s guide, we share how we chose between these combo kits, so you can get a better understanding of how we made our decision.

Choosing the Right Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit

The drill and impact driver in each kit include batteries or two and chargers, but the inside of the tools makes all the difference. Even though two tools may look similar, they can perform quite differently.

There are a few features you need to prioritize when choosing a drill and driver combo kit. Let’s look at each of those features and decide which ones are most important for you.

The power of your drill or impact driver is the most important factor to consider and should be the first thing you think of. However, that does not necessarily mean you need the most powerful kit.

You should aim for 1,400 inch-pounds of torque when using impact drivers. Anything less might cause problems when using long fasteners and working with hard materials.

Although you don’t need a drill as powerful as an impact driver to make holes in harder materials, you still want a drill that is powerful enough not to bog down.

 Size and Weight

A drill and driver combo is as much about form factor as power, so if power were all that mattered, we’d probably have tools that were stuffed with massive motors.

Working with heavier, bulkier tools for several hours can wear you out, and they don’t feel as good in your hand. Additionally, there are times when your working space is very small. Working in tight spaces can be much more difficult with a bulky tool.

It is common for size/weight to be inversely related to power. More powerful tools tend to be larger and heavier, as well as the opposite. While you can find compact drills and drivers in the 12V range, they aren’t as powerful as larger 20V tools. Your uses will determine whether size or power are more important.

Chuck Size

In particular, we are talking about the drill. Drills have different sizes of chucks, but two of the most common sizes are 38-inch and 112. Generally speaking, it is better to use a drill with an 11-inch chuck.

Plus, the larger chuck fits bigger bits, which means the bit won’t spin. Lastly, the larger bit size creates more torque, which means it’s less likely to snap.

Brushless Motors

The brushless motors used in many modern tools have some serious advantages over the brushed motors of the past. What are those advantages?

  • Improved battery efficiency
  • Longer tool lifespan
  • Cooler operating temperatures
  • More compact tools
  • More power and speed
  • Lighter tools

The brushless motors, however, are quite a bit more expensive. You will be spending a bit more if you want to get a kit with brushless motors, but you will likely save money over time.

A drill and driver combo kit is not complete without batteries. Without a spare, you’ll be stuck waiting for your tool’s lone battery to charge.

All of our favorite combo kits come with two batteries so that you won’t have this problem. You can switch from one battery to another while the first one charges. But if the second battery dies while the first one is still charging…

Battery Capacity

This is exactly why battery capacity is so important. Batteries with a higher capacity will last longer, allowing you to accomplish more.

A battery’s capacity is measured in amp-hours, expressed as Ah. More amp-hours means a bigger capacity.

A larger capacity battery is also heavier and bulkier, so it’s a tradeoff.

It is true that power tools tend to be pretty durable, since they’re expected to work hard for a long time. However, sometimes problems can occur that cause them to go bad much earlier than expected.

A great warranty can help you avoid this problem. Some industry giants, like DeWalt, offer a three-year warranty on all their products. Milwaukee offers a five-year warranty on all their products.

In terms of lifetime warranties, Ridgid offers the best of the best. However, you have to buy the tool from Home Depot in order to qualify for the warranty.

Extra Features

There were a few extras we really liked in most of the combo kits we liked. These are a few of our favorites:

  • Built-in LEDs to illuminate your work
  • Belt clips
  • One-handed bit changes
  • Carrying case

Other Tools in the Lineup

As a final consideration, what other tools do they offer? If you buy a drill and impact driver combo kit, you’ll already have two tools and batteries in some company’s inventory.

You can save money by buying another tool in the same lineup since they use the same batteries, but you need to plan ahead and purchase tools that will be part of a lineup you’ll keep purchasing.

The DeWalt 20V max family includes more than 180 different tools that you can add to your collection. The CRAFTSMAN 20V line includes more than 100 tools, and the Ridgid 18V line has more than 30.

It might be difficult to add more tools to your collection using the same batteries if you purchase a combo kit from a relatively unknown manufacturer.

Drill and driver kits are plentiful, but not all of them will perform the kind of hard work you expect. That’s why we review them so rigorously; to help you find the ones worth your hard-earned money.

For us, the best option is the DeWalt 20V MAX Cordless Drill Combo Kit. DeWalt has a great reputation in the industry, and for good reason. Their tools are dependable, and they’re even backed by a three-year warranty. With this kit, you’ll have adequate power and battery life to tackle almost any job.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for something a bit more budget-friendly, we recommend the CRAFTSMAN V20 Cordless Drill Combo Kit. These tools have plenty of power, built-in LED lights, and a three-year warranty, just like the DeWalts.

Whenever you need a lot of power, we recommend the Ridgid 18-Volt Gen5X Cordless Brushless Combo Kit. This combination of tools is powerful, with the impact driver packing a powerful torque of 2,250 inch-pounds. Plus, brushless motors mean longer battery life, especially when you use the included high-capacity batteries.
